Monday recap

It is late Monday evening and we are in a truckstop about twenty miles south of Bloomington, MN.  It is supposed to get down to the low 50's tonight!  We picked this load up in Fort Worth, TX yesterday at 8:00am. This load had one stop in Earth City, MO that was scheduled for 11:00am today.   I was very excited to get this load.  Because of the first drop, we had to spend the night in Saint Louis.  I actually got to sleep in my own bed last night!  What a treat.  It was the first time in over a month.
Yesterday was a special day for Diane. She was able to drive down to see Logan make his first start for Drury University.  The game went well. Drury won 1-0 with Logan earning the shutout.  Diane was then able to visit Alli and Drew and meet the newest addition to our family...their new daughter.
Diane drove me to the truck on her way to work and we headed over to Earth City for our scheduled drop off appointment at 11:00 am.  We have had some good luck arriving early to our drops and having them unload us early.  Well today our lucky streak ended.  Not only did we not get unloaded early.....they didn't get us unloaded until after noon!  After we finally completed our drop, we hit the road for Bloomington, MN.  We drove north on Highway 61. Through Missouri and on into Iowa. I am pretty familiar with "The avenue of the Saints" between Saint Louis and Iowa City, north of there was all new territory for me.  My first surprise was how big Cedar Rapids is.  I have been to my brother in law David Buresh's home before, but that had been many years ago and I don't remember seeing the downtown area. My next surprise came just south of Charles City, Iowa. We were cruising along highway 218 heading north and all of a sudden there were lots and lots of windmills!  The windmills are high tech and enormous.   I have seen pictures of windmill fields out in California, but really had no concept as to the size of them.  There they were, spinning along creating energy....pretty cool!

All in all....a pretty good weekend.

We will be picking up another load going to Murphysboro, TN after we deliver the rest of this one.  I'll write more later ......Tom
