Back to Chicago

We delivered our load in VA this morning at 8:00am.  We went to a truckstop close by to wait for a load assignment.  While we were waiting, we took advantage of the downtime, and took a shower.  We were assigned a load that picked up in Toms Brook, VA that delivers back at the Gary, IN Swift terminal. I drove until 9:00pm this evening.  Most of my driving was up and down through the mountains of Virginian and West Virginia.  Some of the points of interest along the way were the New River Gorge and the sign for "Stonewall Jackson's Home" in Lexington, VA.
We aren't taking the same route that we took yesterday. Yesterday we drove accross the northern portion of Indiana.  We drove through South Bend, IN, the home of Noted Dame University.  It is also the home of the college football hall of fame.  We also drove through Elkhart, IN. Elkhart is where many of the RV's you see on the road are manufactured.  Not to be outdone by South Bend,  Elkhart also has a hall of fame located there.  Elkhart has the RV hall of fame!
While I was driving, we received pre-plans for three more loads.  The first one is very short.  It is from Gary, IN to Romeoville, IL.. The next load goes from Romeoville, IL to Long Island, NY......Yes race fans.....I am going to NY,NY.....the Big Apple.....we were going.to turn this load down, becaause it is going to NY.  Then we got another pre-plan that picks up in NJ and goes to Pasedina, TX.  That is a good load. Over 1500 miles and over two days to deliver it.  I liked the idea because it puts me back near Houston again.  Maybe I will be able to see Ken and Owen again while I am down there.
Now you know where I will be going for the rest of the week.  I will try to write more in the next few days........Tom
