Great day yesteeday

Yesterday and today have officially merged onto one! I didn't drive yesterday until technically today.  That means no driving at all yesterday and I started driving this morning at midnight. The best part of yesterday was seeing my family and getting to be home for a couple of hours.

Diane picked me up at Harra's Casino.  They have secure big truck parking and it is only a few miles from the house.  We went home. I received a great reception from Lucy. I was able to eat a home cooked meal. I worked on Shannon's room. I was able to visit with Al, Nick, Kalen and Chris.  But the best part of the night was sitting on the couch with Di......just relaxing.
Ronnie drove all day yesterday from Conway, AR into Saint Louis.  He parked in the casino and even played a few games while I was home.  Diane made some peanut butter cookies.  Most of them were gone before I left the house.  I took the rest of them and gave them to Ronnie.  He loved them.  He misses a home cooked meal too.  The cookies never made it out of Missouri!
Diane brought me back to the truck and I started driving at midnight. I drove to Romeoville, IL where we dropped off our load and picked up an empty trailer.  At one point this morning I checked the outside temperature. The thermometer read 57 degrees!  So in less than 24 hours we went from above 90 degrees to a low of 58 degrees.
We ended up waiting for another load assignment for.over two and a half hours.  That is very unusual.  We finally got a load that picked up in Gary, IN and dropped off in Front Royal, VA.  While dring to.Gary I kept on seein vaguely familiar street names like Kedsey and Cicero, the Tristate, Halstead.  I hadn't seen or thought about those namee since before we moved to Florida.  I remember those names from the time Ken rode his 10 speed.from Oak Lawn all the way to Gary and back!
I did all the driving until all my hours were used up at 2:00pm.  That got us through all but six miles of Indiana.   We ate some food and Ronnie took over driving.  We hadn't gone eight miles and everyone on the East bound side of Highway 80 came to a complete stop.  It turns out that two "four wheelers" got all tangled up with each other and both ended up in the ditch on their roofs one on top of the other.  Ugly crash scene.
While we were waiting for traffic to finally get moving, we must have snubbed another big truck driver.  As soon as we got past the wreck, someone got on the CB radio and was all over us for not letting him come.over in front of us when the traffic started to move.  There was some name calling back and forth on the radio and then things seemed to calm down for a while.  All of a sudden the other driver came past us shooting us the bird, then deliberately ran into our lane and tried to run us off the road!  That driver obviously likes to play some very dangerous games. Everything since then has been rather uneventful.  That incident reminds me of something dad told me the day that I got my license..

"There are allot of idiots and jerks out there, 99% of them all have drivers licenses......so be careful!"  Once again....dad was right on the money.

So with that all said.....I am going to crawl back into the bunk and catch some sleep.

Talk at you tomorrow.......Tom

HEY....REMEBER....BE CAREFUL OUT THERE
