Time for a new adventure

I am 55 years old.  Unemployed.  No real job prospects in my immediate future.  What to do?  How about learning to drive a "Big Rig".   That is exactly what I have just done.  I went to the C-1 Truck Driving Training school in Springfield, MO.  It is an accelerated three week course, designed to have you pass the CDL class A DOT examination.  I received my license this past Friday.  I didn't have any idea that operating an large "Combination" vehicle could be so challenging.  I have been driving since I was 15.  I have always thought of myself as a pretty good driver.  I found out that there is allot more than just climbing into the cab and turning on the key.  I still have much to learn.  All I have done so far is to obtain enough knowledge to pass the examination.  I have not learned many of the skills that I will be needing in order to make a living hauling freight. These will come over the next month and year.  I will be working with a trainer for at least four weeks.  It will be the trainers job to teach me what I will need to know.  Hopefully, I will be on my own with my own truck in a month or so.  I am taking this week off, to take care of some work that needs to be done around the house.  I will try to update this Blog as often as I can.  Let me know what you would like to hear about. If I can, I will be happy to write about it.    I will post again in a week or so.  I have to ride a bus to Kansas City for orientation.  I am not looking forward to that drive.  That's all for now.........
